Friday May 13th: 2 man ranch sorting . open & novice$35 a person / $70 a team / 50% payback to top 10Sign ups at 11:00 am Start at 12:30pmno cap / bring back top 10 teams teams will have one minute and thirty seconds for their first round .working order will be drawn by the judge and show management before the start of the contest. top 10 teams with the most cattle penned and fastest times will be brought back to work off , with one minute on the clock . Open 2 man sorting will start first followed by the novice class. A un used herd of 10 cattle will be saved for top 10
Saturday May 14th : 3 man team penning $50 a person / $150 a team / 50% pay back to top 10Sign ups at 8:00am start at 9:30am team will consist of 3 peopletop 10 fastest times with most cattle pen will be brought back for another round .a time of 90 seconds will be given , top ten will be given 60 seconds.A team of three must cut from the herd and pen three head of cattle with the assigned (same) identity number. The fastest time wins. working order will be drawn by the judge and show management before the start of the contest. There shall be two flagmen, one at the entrance to the pen and one at the start/foul line. The judge must be located at the start/foul line, and may or may not actually flag the contest at his/her discretion.Contestants will be given their cattle penning number (when the line flagman drops his flag as the nose of the first horse crosses the starting line. Riders are committed once they cross the start line. To call for time, one rider must stand in the gate and raise a hand for the flag. Flag will drop when the nose of the first horse enters the gate and the rider calls for time.Time continues until all unpenned cattle are completely on the cattle side of the starting line.
Sunday May 15th: sort and rope / three number sort/ pen . Sort and rope will be the first event followed by Three number sort/pen sign ups at 8:00am start at 9:30am
Sort & Rope
Team consists of two (2) riders. A time limit of two minutes will be enforced. Herd consists of ten cattle, numbered 0-9 in gated pen at one end of arena. Riders will start at opposite end of arena. Team will be assigned number and number announced when team crosses time line. Team must open gate, enter pen and sort their assigned number from herd. Assign number cattle must exit gate and gate must be closed and latched before cattle is roped. Cattle must be roped by head and heels after gate is latched. A no-time will be given if stray cattle exit pen or steer is roped before gate is latched. A maximum of three (3) loops may be thrown. Legal catches are full head or head and one (1) front foot. One back foot will result in a: 05 penalty. Time stops when steer is stretched and riders faced. $35 a person $70 a person 50% pay back, one round
THREE NUMBER SORT/PEN •Time Limit - 1 minute 30 secondsYou will be given a 3 digit # (Example: 316), you must bring those numbered calves out in that order, 3-1-6•One bad number over the line—DQ•Correctly number calves need to say over the line. IF any part of a calf crosses back over - DQ.•Those calves need to be penned. (They can be penned in any order)•Time will be called when the third calf’s tail enters the pen. Promoter’s and judges’ decisions are final. However, the benefit of the doubt will always go to the competitor. If you wish to protest a judge’s decision you must stay in the arena until the issue is resolved. Promoter will be the final decision. Unsportsmanlike conduct and inhumane treatment will not be tolerated. Both are grounds for disqualification.Roughing of cattle will not be permitted. Blatant roughing will result in a no time. Other roughing will result in a 10 second penalty. Roughing is defined as behaviors such as clipping cattle, stepping on cattle, knocking cattle off their feet, not allowing for “daylight” before an animal hits a fence or panel, horses consistently biting cattle, and slamming cattle in to the back of the pen. Roughing may be called by judges or promotersIn the case of a technical malfunction teams will receive a full rerun. Teams will have a maximum of 60 seconds to enter the arena. If they fail to be in the pen, the team will be disqualified without refund.
Pre entry dead line is May 1st 2016, you may enter day of the events cash only , no checks will be accepted .
Dry camping offered if you wish to overnight your horse in a box stall we have 30 stalls , first come first serve $25 a night per head , stalls are fully beded and have auto waters . Call kim at 661-858-3903 for stall reservations , stalls must be paid for by May 1st
